We are screwed....

I watched this Netflix documentary called "Seaspiracy". It began on the topic of how us killing whales and dolphins have an extreme negative externality. You would think that if people knew about the significant impact that these animals have on literally the ocean it would cause air tight restrictions on killing these creatures. Sike, countries like Japan are dolphin and whale hunting illegally, regardless of the worldwide ban. In the documentary, the videographers went to this region of Japan where fishermen lured in dolphins just to kill them. The fishermen are literally shown backing the dolphins up against the shore and proceeding to wrestle them like barbarians. You would think that the authorities would find out about this black market type stunt and put an end to it relatively quickly. However, the authorities are the ones covering this up. Then the documentary moved on to talk about how the labels that say "dolphin safe" on tuna cans or any seafood product, are just false. Its just misleading since there is no way to enforce these rules on commercial fishing ships hella far out at sea, in other words the label is just there as a marketing scheme. Just straight up false advertising. I forgot the name of the company that has a patent on this label, but apparently they make bank out of just licensing their label to seafood manufacturers so of course they're not going to stop. Anyways, my biggest takeaway from this is that the ocean, as we know, it could be completely empty by the year 2048. There was one comparison from the documentary that summarized this best. Think of earth as a spaceship, on it there are crew-mates who are each responsible and important for the ship to keep existing. Each crew-member cannot live without the other. So in context of the real world, we are essentially killing other crew-mates (marine life) for selfish gains without thinking ahead to see how it could impact us in the future. I understand the selfish thinking of "chasin the bag" until you get what I like to call "f**k you money", but in this situation its is only a short term gain which ultimately clears way for just a tiny little problem called human extinction. Whatever bro, I thought vegetarians were crazy, but after watching this they might know something we (meat eaters) don't. Bottom line: we're dead. if Elon Musk gives me a one way ticket to mars as part of some colonization mission Im taking it, I'll happily die on mars (just a personal goal of mine).
